Live Tabs privacy policy

Last updated: 6 October 2026. Published at /privacy on the Live Tabs website.

Live Tabs is a browser extension that lists your GitHub pull requests in the browser’s side panel. It has no server of its own: everything it does happens in your browser, between your browser and GitHub.

What Live Tabs stores, and where

Data Where it stays
Your GitHub access token This browser only (extension local storage). It is never synced or sent anywhere but GitHub.
Your Live tabs: their names and Queries, and which ones are switched off Your browser’s sync storage, so they follow you to your other browsers if browser sync is on.
The pull requests last shown, the ones you Dismissed, which Inbox sections are open This browser only.

Who Live Tabs talks to

Only GitHub:

Live Tabs has no analytics, no tracking, no ads and no remote code. It sells and shares nothing, because nothing reaches anyone but GitHub. GitHub’s own privacy statement covers what GitHub does with your requests.

Why it asks for full access to private repositories

GitHub’s OAuth Apps have no read-only scope for private repositories; repo is the only one that covers them across all your organisations. Live Tabs only reads with it: it searches pull requests and never writes, comments, merges or changes anything.

Permissions

Removing your data

Sign out in Live Tabs’ Settings to delete the token from this browser, and revoke Live Tabs under Authorized OAuth Apps on GitHub to invalidate it. Uninstalling the extension deletes what it stored in this browser.
